learning to invest but need someone that can provide me with some answers?

By admin · March 27, 2010 · Filed in Stock Market for Dummies · 5 Comments »

I am 16 years old and trying to learn how stocks, mutual funds, and all that works. I have read a couple of articles and I have the books investing for dummies, but I need someone that can provide me with a few answers to the questions I might come across. If you are experienced in the stock market please leave me your yahoo, aim, or msn screen name I can contact you on…
thanks…

If you’ve read a few articles on the basics, that should be a good start. You should sign up at a brokerage if you want to start investing. Charles Schwab is a great brokerage and has a great Web site where you can research investments. The customer service does not give strong investment advice, but can help with general questions. As you have probably learned from the articles you have read, investing in a stock index fund for the long term is the best way to go, but of course you can have other investments also. You could do a lot worse than simply deciding what kind of investments you want, researching them on Schwab or a similar Web site, and investing in what you want, having any questions answered by the brokerage.

Is it wise to buy stock that trades on the Over The Counter Bulletin Board quotation system?

By admin · March 27, 2010 · Filed in Stock Trading System · 2 Comments »

Depends on which stock. But in general, it would probably not be the wisest of investments. They are highly speculative.

Is there anyone out ther who can recommend a trading system or course to a novice like me?

I started with my trading in the FT100 and had bad experince – a significant loss in the last month. Any help or guidance welcomed.

Investopedia…..definitely…..especially now that automation is replacing good paying jobs. You gotta fight for every inch of your savings now. The better you get at it, the better off you are gonna be. It is all about being smarter and faster than a hedge fund, so when they get in, you get some of the profit! Little by little.

books about stocks, investing, and finance?

By admin · March 26, 2010 · Filed in Stock Market for Dummies · 4 Comments »

i’m a high school student and i want to know more about the stock market, economy, wall street, hedge funds, derivatives, and investing. i need some books that will explain this stuff to me (especially stocks) in simple language so i can understand. are the ‘for dummies’ books good or are there any other suggestions?

thanks in advance!

Anything you can get your hands on is good. My list would include:
Rule #1 Investing (read with a grain of salt, it includes a little of everything. Fundamental and technical analysis. The author has taken ideas from value investing, technical analysis, charles schwab, etc. and put them all together)
A Random Walk Down Wall Street
The Intelligent Investor
Security Analysis (read after you have a pretty good grasp on the whole stock market lingo)

Looking for Stock Simulation Game that has international stocks and need to have a good "Note" system.

Looking for Stock Simulation Game like Virtual Stock Exchange but can trade international stocks and need to have a good "Note" system for each stock.

I think stocktrak.com may make it. It haves the biggest stocks of some foreign markets, notes are ok. If you where more specific regarding the market that u r interested i could give you another suggestions, depending on the market.

So many "Experts" offering courses in Options, Forex & Stocks trading, Fees are exorbitant, who is making $?

Forget those courses. If it was that easy, everyone would be doing it.

A guy in France just lost 7 billion. People lose their shirts every single day because they are going into options, forex, etc., without knowing what they are doing.

Get a good beginners stock trading book, and plan on making money over the long term. That money you spent on a course would be better spent on some decent stocks.

But, if you have not invested in an IRA, 401K or Index Funds first, you have no business buying individual stocks.

What’s a good beginners guide to the stock market and day trading?

By admin · March 25, 2010 · Filed in Stock Market for Dummies · 5 Comments »

I’m 25 and I don’t have much money but I would like to start learning about the basics of the stock market and maybe invest in some penny stocks. I tried the "Trading for Dummies" book but unfortunately it wasn’t dumb enough for me (the book basically assumes you know the basics which defeats the purpose of a ‘Dummies’ book)

Three main sources come to mind:

1) Day Trading for Dummies (actually a really good basic book)
2) 123LearnToTrade.com has excellent info
3) Youtube Trading Videos

Hope this helps!
