I am newly retired and would like to learn how to position trade stocks effectively. What is the best method?
There are so many systems offered that it is confusing. I want to learn the facts about trading without sales spin. I am reading "Trading For Dummies" which is actually quite in depth but am not sure what my next step should be.

why not a non-profit health system?
While many people feel that competition will lower health care costs, Insurance companies will still be obligated to meet wall street expectations. Basically all insurance companies whose stock is publicly traded have to make enough money to pay all worker and in addition enough to satisfy investors, the same can be said for many hospitals and clinics.
I would propose a non-profit system the collection of premiums and payout of services would be non-profit, all workers would be paid salaries. Same with hospitals Doctors would be paid salaries depending on specialty, bonus would be paid to doctors based on treatment results. ie working with patient to lower weight and blood pressure with exercise and diet vs medication. All money going into the hospital would have to be used to pay salaries, and update equipment. Set up a rewards program for researchers that discover new inovations in procedures and medications.
In addition set up a malpractice fund that is also non-profit based, while the fund would still be based on doctors having a percentage of pay go into the fund. the money would then be invested. The main difference would be no dividends would have to be paid to investors.

Self-employed stock traders: What is your backup strategy?
I mean in the even that, for whatever reason, your trading becomes less effective and less profitable. Could be emotional problems, physical, competition and trading systems increasing efficiency – whatever.
Over the short term, do you have backup strategies? For example, do you trade intraday, but understand enough to be profitable at swing? Or maybe trade on level II quotes and time reversals intraday, but know how to use candlesticks and overbought/oversold indicators?
Over the long term, do you have career backups? A college degree that would allow you to hop right back into the work place? Maybe a safe million in a standard investing account, so you wouldn’t mind living off 10% market average (or more conservatively in bonds) while you sort yourself out?

A question regarding buying and selling stocks?
Through online investing is their a method where I can put an amount that I want to buy the stock, and an amount I want to sell it so that it can be done automatically without me watching the stock every day waiting for the right moment. If there is, what is the name of this term, who offers it and is this offered in real time. If I want to sell the stock at 10.00 if somewhere during the day it reaches that point will it automatically sell or does this system take the price at the end of the day? I’d appreciate your answers and any other advice regarding trading stocks
